More about Hirafu Village
As a popular ski resort, Hirafu Village is busy during winter, but the locals are uniformly friendly and most speak at least some English. The range of dining options is huge, with sashimi, modern Australian, Mexican, Italian, noodle bars, and a host of assorted quirky bars and cafes.
For a quick, tasty and nutritious lunch just ask for Onigiri: various fillings in rice, wrapped in seaweed triangles and an ideal size for sticking in the pocket of your ski-jacket for a quick snack on the chair lift. If you'd prefer a sit-down meal there are numerous on-mountain restaurants and cafes.
Back in town, a centrally located Seicomart will meet all your domestic needs while there are a variety of souvenir shops, Internet cafes and ski/snowboard rental /repair shops and retail outlets.
Onsen - the traditional Japanese public bath
An absolute must for every visitor to Hirafu is to experience an onsen (a traditional Japanese public bath). Each one is unique so make sure you try several... these
natural hot springs are mineral-rich and provided in both indoor and outdoor formats for men and
women separately. They are a great way to spend a few hours soaking away
your aches while watching the snow fall gently around you. Enjoy! ![]()
